Description Quilt: applique with green and pink tulip and leaf design.

Embroidered onto quilt is the border inscription: "Presented by the Ladies of the South Portion of Glade Run/Church to the Rev. C. Forbes and Lady in the Year of/ our Lord 1853". Fine x-stitch. Also embroidered - "W.E. (?) W. & E. McCormick" written in another place.

Quilt was given to Rev. and Mrs. Forbes after they had returned from Hawaii and were serving a church in the United States.

01/01/1989 - According to the museum album, the Forbes served "at various churches in Pennsylvania and Indiana after their return to the U.S. in the late 1840s.

01/09/1993 Retissued and # attached; quite fragile and browned

Condition: poor - the fabric that was originally white is now tan due to age; piping around edge is coming off.
