Description Hawaiian Quilt: "Mokihana". Red applique on white. The applique fabric is plain weave cotton, the background is a cotton bed sheet. The batting is cotton (?). The backing is bleached muslin. Binding was machine sewn same fabric as the applique. Applique stitch is overcast, white thread. Red fabric and binding are very worn. There is a large hole in the background near the center. A muslin patch was sewn on the backing by curatorial staff to strengthen the area around the hole.

Object Name Quilt
Provenance Bought at a swap meet (probably Kam). The quilt was loaned to MHM sometime around 1987, but not accessioned until 1994.
